Journey Overview
Begin in Delhi, where Mughal architecture, Old Delhi’s historic quarters, the markets around Jama Masjid, and the Sikh traditions of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib establish the cultural breadth of northern India. Humayun’s Tomb and Sunder Nursery provide a deeper introduction to Mughal design and conservation before the journey continues to Agra.
Two nights at The Oberoi Amarvilas allow time to approach Agra beyond the Taj Mahal alone. See the monument at first light, trace the imperial history of Agra Fort, cross the Yamuna to Mehtab Bagh, and encounter the intricate pietra dura work still practiced by specialist craftsmen.
Rajasthan begins at Six Senses Fort Barwara, a restored fourteenth-century fort near Ranthambore National Park. One day is devoted to the reserve and its Bengal tigers, while another is intentionally left for the fort, spa, and surrounding countryside.
Jaipur brings together Rajput architecture, courtly traditions, and some of India’s most accomplished decorative arts. Amber Fort, Jantar Mantar, and the City Palace are paired with restricted access to Chandra Mahal, specialist textile and jewelry ateliers, and time at Dera Amer, where rescued elephants live away from the riding circuits of Jaipur.
Continue west to Jodhpur, where Mehrangarh Fort dominates the Blue City and generations of craftsmen continue traditions shaped by royal patronage. The route then shifts into the granite wilderness of Jawai, where leopards move among ancient rock formations and Rabari pastoral communities have shared the landscape with wildlife for generations.
The journey concludes in Udaipur, where the palaces of the Mewar dynasty rise above Lake Pichola. Private time on the lake, the City Palace, traditional miniature painting, and a personal welcome at Devra bring together the artistic, royal, and human stories that have shaped Rajasthan.
