Namibia & South Africa: Deserts, Cities and Safaris
Introduction
All of our journeys can be completely personalized and curated with our commitment to sustainable tourism.
Journey Overview
This 20-day journey brings together the defining contrasts of Namibia and South Africa, beginning in Cape Town with Table Mountain, Robben Island, the Cape Winelands, and meaningful engagement with community projects supported by Uthando South Africa.
From Cape Town, fly to Namibia, where Windhoek offers an introduction to the country’s history and contemporary life before the landscape opens onto the Namib Desert. Scenic flights reveal the scale of the dunes and dry river valleys, while stays in the NamibRand Nature Reserve and Hartmann Valley place you within some of Africa's most remote terrain. Desert-adapted wildlife, vast night skies, and the cultural traditions of northwestern Namibia give this part of the journey a character entirely separate from the safari reserves that follow.
Continue to Johannesburg for a privately guided examination of the city's art, architecture, and complex history before entering South Africa's wildlife regions. Sabi Sand offers excellent opportunities to see the Big Five, particularly leopard, through game drives and guided bush walks led by experienced trackers.
The journey concludes at Phinda Private Game Reserve, where seven distinct ecosystems support an unusually broad range of wildlife. Game drives may be complemented by a rhino conservation experience and an ocean safari along the KwaZulu-Natal coast, connecting terrestrial conservation with the marine environments of the Indian Ocean.
Throughout the itinerary, exceptional lodges provide access to each region while experienced guides, private arrangements, and carefully coordinated flights protect the pace of a journey spanning considerable distances.
