For many, France’s southeastern region of Provence conjures the idyllic landscapes of lavender and sunflower fields, chateaux amongst sprawling vineyards, bustling markets with fresh loaves of bread, and cheeses, enchanting hilltop villages, and culinary sensations. It is the rural French country living we admire and are inspired by.

Destination Overview

Situated in the center of Italy and the only region in Italy that does not border another country or the sea, Umbria is often referred to as “The Green Heart of Italy.” It is renowned for its wine and olive oil production, a wealth of medieval villages and castles, and lush landscapes filled with fields of sunflowers and grapes. Given its historic riches and natural beauty, it is unimaginable that Umbria would still be considered a “hidden gem.” But what a gem it is!

Umbria is the epitome of Italy’s ‘old-world’ charm. Centuries-old traditions and a humble way of life are still the norms here. Medieval towers of walled towns can be seen in every direction; cobblestone streets lined with flower-laced brick homes lead to lively piazzas, enotecas serve up family recipes, and colorful weekly markets are still social occasions.

Ask us about a private villa version of this journey for your family or small group of friends! Private villas can accommodate between 2 and 16 guests and are located throughout Umbria.

Carbon Offset

The Evolved Traveler is allocating $95 per person* in conjunction with our partners, Offset Alliance,  to help offset this journey through verified carbon removal and reversals projects.

The amount is determined by calculating the carbon footprint for this journey considering flights to the destination, intra-tour flights if applicable, hotel stays, and ground transportation. An additional 25% is added to the static factors to offset components we cannot immediately account for, such as food.

The carbon emissions accounted for are calculated by using measurement benchmarks determined by the United Nations World Tourism Organization. The projects our carbon-offset donations are distributed to can be seen at www.offsetalliance.co/projects.

*The amount shown is an estimation for this journey. The exact will be calculated at the time of booking based on the city of origin for flights to the destination, and the specifications of the itinerary.
