Japan merges time-honored traditions and modern technology like no other country in the world. We can, at once, visualize the bright electronic billboards of Tokyo and legendary geisha.

Our 13-night immersion into Japan explores the wonders of Tokyo, the bustling tech-metropolis, the historical and traditional towns of Takayama and Kyoto, home to 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the emotion of Hiroshima, and the culinary riches of Osaka, Japan’s soul food capital.

Destination Overview

The Evolved Traveler’s luxury 13-day journey to Japan begins in vibrant Tokyo, where you experience Asakusa’s diversity, part of Tokyo’s Shitamachi (old town). Asakusa is home to Senso-Ji, Tokyo’s oldest Buddhist temple, and the city’s oldest Geisha district. Marvel at Shibuya, the world’s busiest intersection, before enjoying the more tranquil and lesser-seen side of the city on a bike ride through Tokyo’s backstreets and local shotengai (small commercial streets) in hip neighborhoods such as Shimo-Kitazawa.

Board a bullet train for the Alpine-esque Takayama. One of Japan’s hidden gems and a treasure-trove of history. Next is the beautiful and traditional Kyoto, the reigning cultural capital of Japan, home to 2,000 shrines and temples, and 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Partake in a tea ceremony in Kodai-Ji, a stunning 400-year-old temple where special access has been granted for your private ceremony. Continue to the sacred island of Miyajima and the city of Hiroshima for a moving visit to the Peace Memorial Park and Museum.

Finally, enjoy the vivid and colorful world of Japan’s street food and nightlife, where a local food expert will take you on a culinary highlights tour of Osaka, experiencing the city’s best-loved dishes – including Japanese soul food!

Carbon Offset

The Evolved Traveler is allocating $95 per person* in conjunction with our partners, Offset Alliance,  to help offset this journey through verified carbon removal and reversals projects.

The amount is determined by calculating the carbon footprint for this journey considering flights to the destination, intra-tour flights if applicable, hotel stays, and ground transportation. An additional 25% is added to the static factors to offset components we cannot immediately account for, such as food.

The carbon emissions accounted for are calculated by using measurement benchmarks determined by the United Nations World Tourism Organization. The projects our carbon-offset donations are distributed to can be seen at www.offsetalliance.co/projects.

*The amount shown is an estimation for this journey. The exact will be calculated at the time of booking based on the city of origin for flights to the destination, and the specifications of the itinerary.
