The founder and president of The Evolved Traveler, Justin Smith is a 30-year veteran of the travel and cruise industries. Having traveled to over 100 countries, he possesses extensive international knowledge and a high level of expertise in itinerary and tour development. Justin continually strives to bring new and rewarding experiences to his guests worldwide.
Believing that travel could “evolve” into something even more rewarding and inspiring—not only to the travelers themselves but also to the people they encounter and countries they visit on their journeys—Justin decided to create The Evolved Traveler. This unique approach to travel encompasses all the aspects of international luxury journeys and combines them with the elements of global community and engagement. His philosophy is simple: “We don’t have to give anything up; we simply have to give.”
Justin resides in Los Angeles not far from where he grew up, but continues to travel the world at every opportunity. He enjoys participating in community activities as well as spending time enjoying the “outdoor” lifestyle that Los Angeles affords his family and friends.
Shante joins The Evolved Traveler as our Director, Product Operation and Enhancement. With over 10- years in the luxury travel sector in product development and operations, Shante comes to The Evolved Traveler wishing to be part of the growing chorus within the travel industry promoting Sustainable Tourism and the theme of “traveling with a purpose.” With the intent to do more than just put a “sightseeing” itinerary together, Shante welcomes the new challenge to genuinely engage our guests more deeply with and in the communities they visit. Through her own travel, she consistently looks to deepen her own understanding and perspective of the world and share that with our guests. In her own words, “Luxury travel is changing rapidly and part of that “new” luxury is the guests desire to authentically engage with the people and places they visit, and if only for a moment, to see through the eyes of those people. Just that moment can change and broaden our perspective of the world.
As a child of a military family, traveling started early for Shante, and so a career in travel was a natural fit. Traveling as often as possible, some of her favorite destinations thus far are Cuba, Peru, and South Africa – a list she looks forward to growing. Shante currently makes her home in Kansas with her wife, Sally, and enjoys (sometimes!) playing mom to their three dogs and a hedgehog.
